Munich - In the future, the 27,000 delivery staff of the Spanish postal service Correos will ensure that customers get their letters and packages even quicker. They will be helped by a PDA with Siemens software containing all the necessary delivery information. For the Slovakian postal service, Siemens IT Solutions and Services will renew the entire IT infrastructure and consolidate the number of servers.
By the end of 2008, every letter carrier employed by the Spanish postal service Correos should be equipped with a PDA enabling “electronic” mail delivery. The Siemens software installed in the devices supplies staff with all the data needed for fast delivery, including the name of the recipient and details of the delivery route. Subsequently, delivery staff can enter further digital information, e.g. whether the delivered item was a registered letter. As Siemens will be installing the solution in the postal service’s IT systems, all the data can be stored quickly in the system and Correos will be able to call up the current delivery status at any time.
The Slovakian postal service has commissioned Siemens IT Solutions and Services to consolidate its servers and modernize its entire hardware infrastructure within the next four years. This includes warranty as well as installation and implementation services. The customer will thus be able to significantly reduce its energy and hardware operating costs and make its processes more effective.
